Sore

The thick cough slammed into the handkerchief, staining it in a mucus-filled affirmation of sickness; invisible germs crawled up the arms to strangle the throat once more. Their grubby fingertips lifted the lips and slipped inside, drifting to the back of her tongue and down, down as far as they could. They hammered the neck from inside.
