She daunted those who would cement feet in bricks, choosing to swim the depths without help. The drama of life could not invade the water’s surface; muffled voices barely made it inches down. She smiled without a stranger’s whistle to catch her attention, mingling her fingers near whatever fishes weren’t afraid. No inhibitions held her from being herself.
