Warmth

Fire’s crackle sifts heat to our skin, but not enough warmth is had. Our words shiver through our lips, but a lack of understanding pushes me closer to you. I press my head against your shoulder and look into your fire-lit eyes but lose the ability to speak. In silence, our bodies stay touching for all time.
