Single Mother

The piled structure of concrete bends with its weight like icicles reaching for the ground. Her tied arms rub against her bare back as her child sips some milk from her breast. No matter how much life puts on her back, she will not fall as long as her baby needs a protector. Her bones will not shatter.

First, I’d like to say I’m sorry for taking so long to reply. My whole family has had the flu and we’re still trying to get over it.

I really enjoyed reading this one as it took me back to a time when I was a single mother. You’ve captured the essence of what a mother will do for her child/ren well in this flash fiction. Mother’s can be very resilient. Well done. Have a nice day.

  3. Dynamic with determination.

    Nice.
